About four weeks ago I started school again after a two-month summer hiatus. It feels good to be back. I love it, truthfully. I enjoy learning. I am a nerd and freely admit it. One of the things that is most frustrating, however, is the lack of time to write anything other than school assignments. It seems I am always running behind on some reading or writing and so all my time is spent on homework. Even lunch at work is usually taken at my desk with a book in one hand and a sandwich in the other. Still, I really do enjoy it so only so much complaining can be done.
I’m taking four classes this semester: Literature Meets Pop, 19th Century Women Writers, Shakespeare’s Comedies and Asian Cinema. All interesting, although I must admit I love love love my Women Writers and Shakespeare classes the most. The professors are great, interesting enough to keep me wide awake after an 8 hour work day, and the novels we’ve read have been things I’ve really enjoyed. Lit Meets Pop is actually a bit disappointing. I had high hopes, but so far I’m lackluster about the writers we’ve covered (only Kerouac, really) and am hoping future writers manage to incite my interest a bit more.
Other than school, though, everything pretty much remains the same. Jeremy and I have decided to remodel our bedroom, or rather I’ve decided because I’d like to have a space that is big enough for friends and he sees no reason why not to. It involves tearing down a closet, painting, refurnishing and possibly building doorways to the backyard so we can let the dogs in without having to bring them through the front. That’s pretty much been eating up all my weekend time, along with the wedding of course.
